Senate Ways and Means Hears about Rural Health Transformation Grants

Rural Health Transformation Program (March 4, 2026) – Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on House Bill 2555, which requires grant applications, expenditure information, reports and other documentation related to the Rural Health Transformation Program to be submitted to the state finance council, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Senate Committee on Ways and Means and Legislative Budget Committee. The committee heard from Kansas Department for Aging and Disabilities Secretary Laura Howard, who provided an overview of the expectations and legislative oversight of the Rural Health Transformation Program. Committee members asked whether the funding for specific items needed to already be identified and requested a list of the identified items.

The committee is slated to meet again tomorrow.
