Senate Ways and Means Adds Funds for Long-Term Care

Budget 3 (Feb. 12, 2026) – Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee adjusted its budget bill, adding $29.3 million in State General Funds to KanCare caseloads for nursing facility daily rates. The committee also voted to add funds for the frail and elderly waiver. The committee considered a motion from Sen. Rick Kloos (R-Topeka), seconded by Sen. Michael Fagg (R-El Dorado), to add $10 million in add-on payments for adult behavioral health beds. The committee voted to approve the funding.

The committee also added funds for the traumatic brain injury waiver and included proviso language that prohibits any state funds from going to physicians for abortion counseling or services.

The committee will continue discussions tomorrow.
