(Feb. 26, 2026) – Today, the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee held a hearing on
House Bill 2557, which enacts and joins with other states in the interstate compact for the placement of children and authorizes the administration and implementation of the compact. Rebecca Garhardt appeared before the committee on behalf of the Kansas Department of Children and Families. The committee sought clarification and asked questions of the conferee, then closed the hearing.
