(Feb. 16, 2026) – Today, during discussion the committee worked bills including Senate Bill 55, which prohibits the assignment of benefits under certain property and casualty insurance contracts and defining such assignment of benefits as an unfair method of competition and unfair or deceptive practice act. The bill was amended to not apply to commercial property. The bill will now go to the floor.
The committee will meet again after the upcoming turnaround deadline.
