Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Recommends Mammogram Cost-Sharing Bill
(Feb. 10, 2026) – Today, the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee recommended Senate Bill 409 for passage by a 6-3 vote. The bill requires that no cost-sharing be imposed on insureds for diagnostic and supplemental breast examinations for breast cancer. The committee heard from Senator Beverly Gossage (R-Eudora), who raised concerns that the bill would impose a mandate. The legislation will now go before the full Senate.
The committee will continue meetings tomorrow.
