The AHA Regional Policy Board brings together leadership from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. These meetings focus on the top health care issues facing hospitals today.

KHA Board Meeting - March 24

KHA has a 21-member board of directors. They meet at least five times a year. Each board member holds three-year terms, with a two-term limit. The board has a composition of members from all geographic areas of Kansas all sizes and types of member hospitals are represented. The board also includes two hospital trustees and two physician members. Other participants include the American Hospital Association delegate.

KCMHC District Council Meeting - March 25

The Kansas City Metropolitan Healthcare Council is a policy division of The Health Alliance of MidAmerica. The Council, formerly known as the Greater Kansas City Health Council, works with local hospitals on areas of collective interest.

KHSC Board Meeting - March 25

KHSC is a wholly owned subsidiary of KHA. Therefore, a secondary objective of KHSC is to support KHA in meeting its mission of serving hospitals. Its mission is to provide enhanced value to KHA members by evaluating and endorsing selected vendors of services needed by the KHA membership. KHSC will be a valuable resource to Kansas healthcare facilities and the Kansas Hospital Association as they serve their constituents.

Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee Hears Group Insurance Pools

Insurance Files (March 12, 2026) – Today, the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee held a hearing on Senate Bill 528. The bill enacts the Kansas Municipal Self-Funded Medical and Prescription Drug Insurance Pool Act and establishes certain reserves, maximum exposure funding and reporting requirements for municipal self-funded medical and prescription drug insurance pools.

Proponents included Brian Rose of the Educational Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas Pool of School Districts.

Opponent testimony was provided by Ian Still of Benefitbay.

Neutral testimony came from Sarah Fertig of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, and Eric Turek of the Kansas Department of Insurance.

The committee will meet again next week.
