(Feb. 9, 2026) – Today, the Legislative Modernization Committee held a hearing on House Bill 2592. The legislation establishes the Kansas Task Force on Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to study these technologies and make recommendations to the legislature. The committee heard from proponent conferee Rep. Nick Hohesiel (R-Wichita), who emphasized the need for an amendment adding the health care sector to the task force. The committee also heard from the following conferees:
- Kansas League of Municipalities, proponent, with a request to add the city.
- Kansas Health Institute provided neutral testimony regarding other state landscapes.
The committee is slated to take action on bills when it meets next on Wednesday.
