(Feb. 12, 2026) – Today, the House of Representatives took final votes on the following:
Sub for Sub for House Bill 2132 determines when a law enforcement officer may or shall take a child into custody. The bill passed 119-0 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2440 exempts owners of oil leases from having to file a request for exemption with the Board of Tax Appeals for property tax exemptions. The bill passed 119-0 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2468 elects to participate in the federal tax credit for individual contributions to scholarship-granting organizations and increases the aggregate tax credit limit for the Low-Income Students Scholarship Program. The bill passed 70-49 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2470 provides that certain municipalities may designate the entire municipality within a neighborhood revitalization area under the Kansas Neighborhood Revitalization Act. The bill passed 115-4 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2479 authorizes electronic monitoring with victim notification as a condition of release prior to trial for certain offenders charged with a domestic violence offense, domestic battery, stalking or violation of a protective order. The bill passed 118-1 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2557 enacts and joins with other states in the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children and authorizes the administration and implementation of the compact. The bill passed 118-1 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2579 designates a portion of K-49 Highway as the Private Michael E Gerber Memorial Highway, Vietnam KIA. The bill passed 119-0 and will now go to the Senate.
Additionally, the House is slated to debate election-related bills, including:
House Bill 2416 creates the Kansas Motorsports Venue Protection Act to provide immunity to motorsports venues from civil actions for nuisance, taking or similar legal theories.
House Bill 2448 requires citizenship status to be listed on driver's licenses.
House Bill 2493 requires a person transmitting or delivering a ballot on behalf of another voter to include such person's driver's license number in the written statement on the ballot envelope.
House Bill 2451 prohibits government officers and employees from using public assets to advocate for or against proposed amendments to the Constitution of the State of Kansas and ballot questions submitted to qualified electors.
