(Jan. 15, 2026) – Today, the House Health Human Services Committee, chaired by Representative Ron Bryce (R-Coffeyville), heard from Chuck Schmidt with the Kansas Silver-Haired Legislature about priority items recommended by their group, including:
- Medical Cannabis access and support of Senate Bill 294
- Tax Changes: Lowering property taxes and raising limits on the Homestead Tax Credit
- Medicaid Expansion
- Frail and Elderly Programs and other programs that help keep people in their homes
- Transportation for the aging
- Maintaining early voting
Bill introductions included the Occupational Therapist Licensure Compact, the Respiratory Therapist Compact and the authorization of e-kits at private psychiatric hospitals. These bills will be assigned bill numbers in the coming days.
The committee will continue meetings next week.
