House Health Hears Bills

House of Representatives (Feb. 10, 2026) – Today, the House Health Committee held hearings on the following bills:

House Bill 2676 permits a pharmacist to initiate therapy for certain conditions consistent with the pharmacist's education, training and experience.

The committee saw testimony provided by the following:

Proponents:

  • Alexandra Blasi, Kansas Board of Pharmacy
  • Dr. Jim Backes, University of Kansas School of Pharmacy
  • Tyler Wood, Kansas Pharmacists Association

Opponents:

  • Rachelle Colombo, Kansas Medical Society.

House Bill 2702 provides that applicants for a physician assistant license submit to a criminal record check, provides for the collaboration between physicians and physician assistants and requires the revocation of a physician assistant license under certain circumstances.

The committee heard from:

  • Rachelle Colombo, Kansas Medical Society
  • Susan Gile, Kansas State Board of Healing Arts

The committee is scheduled to meet again tomorrow to hold hearings and consider House Bill 2368, which provides for the licensure of anesthesiologist assistants.
