House Health Hears Bills and Cancer Center Updates

KUMCLogo (Feb. 4, 2026) – Today, the House Health and Human Services Committee received a presentation from Dr. Roy Jensen of the University of Kansas Cancer Center in honor of Cancer Day at the Capitol. Dr. Jensen covered the cancer center's history, state partnerships and clinical trials and provided updates on expansion.

The committee also held a hearing and worked on the following occupational licensure compact bills:

  • House Bill 2533 enacts the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact to provide interstate practice privileges to occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. The committee recommended the legislation with a technical amendment.
  • House Bill 2534 enacts the Respiratory Care Interstate Compact to provide interstate practice privileges to respiratory therapists. The committee recommended the legislation favorably with a technical amendment.

The bills will now go to the full house for further review.
