House Government Oversight Committee Meets

House of Representatives (Dec. 17, 2025) – Yesterday, the House Government Oversight Committee, chaired by Representative Kristey Williams (R-Augusta), met.

The committee received an overview of anti-discrimination legal issues from the Kansas Office of the Revisor of Statutes staff. The Kansas Department of Legislative Research staff discussed the fiscal impacts of diversity, equity and inclusion policies and state-related laws.

The committee heard from the Kansas Board of Regents about guidance given to Kansas universities. Appearing to discuss how universities are implementing changes were Doug Girod, chancellor of the University of Kansas, Marshall Stewart, executive vice president for External Engagement and chief of staff for Kansas State University, Rick Muma, president of Wichita State University and Ken Hush, president of Emporia State University.

The committee listened to state representatives discuss university administrative structures, admissions practices and training and instruction procedures.
