(Feb. 13, 2026) – Today, the House Appropriations Committee continued its work on the House budget. During the discussion, committee members voted in favor of the following measures:
- Pulling the Kansas Department of Health and Environment language related to expenditures for any training in counseling or abortion services.
- Adding $12.5 million from the
American Rescue Plan Act for affordable housing development. The committee
also added language for a 1.5 percent cut to the State General Fund from
state agency operations.
- Adding language into the Kansas
Department for Aging and Disability Services budget to provide notice to
the elderly seeking Medicaid nursing home dollars that they have options
for a home waiver.
The committee kicked the budget out and will now go to the full House.
