Senate Ways and Means Discusses Budget

Budget Plan (Feb. 9, 2026) – Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee began discussing the budget bill in its entirety and made the following adjustments to Senate Bill 315, which concerns supplemental appropriations for fiscal year 2026 and appropriations for FYs 2027 and 2028 for various state agencies, authorizes certain capital improvement projects and fees and authorizes certain transfers. Following a briefing from legislative staff, the committee made the following adjustments:

  • Restore $500,000 to the Kansas Arts Commission and funds for Smoky Hills Public Broadcasting System.

The committee reviewed all fee-funded agencies to see if there were any amendments. They will meet again tomorrow to bring additional amendments for other agencies.
