(May 2026) – We know many individuals in Kansas are instrumental in making a difference for hospitals and the health care they provide in our communities. Whether these individuals work in a hospital or outside our ranks, the Kansas Hospital Association wants to recognize their efforts. To honor those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, we need you to nominate them by June 1.
New this year is a Board of the Year Award. The award recognizes and honors hospital boards of directors who are leaders, give back to the community and routinely go beyond the call of duty. KHA members are encouraged to recognize hospital boards that have served with distinction and made significant contributions to the betterment of their hospital and community. The award honors hospital boards of directors for their exemplary leadership and governance.
A community hospital board of directors that holds current membership in the Kansas Hospital Association can be nominated. Individual board members must complete a self-evaluation in the KHA Trustee Recognition and Accountability Program. If board members have completed this previously, they do not need to complete it again, click here for a list of trustees who have completed their self-evaluation. Hospital boards of directors being nominated should demonstrate the following characteristics: Leadership: demonstrates leadership or involvement in the field of hospital governance. Commitment: contributes both time and talent to bettering the hospital and other health care services in the community. Advocacy: increases public attention to the health care needs of the community and has created public concern for meeting those needs. Impact: analyzes issues, defines problems and brings issues to a successful conclusion.
Additional KHA members are encouraged to submit nominations for include: the Charles S. Billings Award, the Distinguished Health Care Advocate Award, the Donald A. Wilson Visionary Award, the Heart of Health Care Award and the Workforce Strategies Award.
