Dixie Simpson turns ideas into practical improvements that benefit patients, staff and hospital operations. After identifying an opportunity to strengthen emergency department care through Observation Status, she led a collaborative rollout involving providers, nursing, registration, HIM, business office staff and Integrity Healthcare. She developed clear workflow tools, supported training and kept the process focused on learning rather than blame. Since implementation, 113 patients have been managed under ED Observation Status, improving patient flow, documentation consistency and reimbursement capture. Simpson’s leadership reflects innovation, teamwork and a commitment to sustainable rural care.
