The Kansas City Healthcare Communicators Society (KCHCS) is dedicated to assisting communicators who work in or have an interest in the health care field continue their professional development by increasing their understanding of the industry and their role in it.
In today's highly competitive and fast-changing health care world, KCHCS provides members with a unique opportunity to collaborate with their peers throughout the Greater Kansas City area.
Benefits include educational programs that are offered to members through luncheon or breakfast meetings, as well as at an annual half-day seminar. While topics often focus on the communicator's role in a changing health care industry, programs also include more general marketing and communications topics. In addition, KCHCS offers unique networking opportunities through social activities.
For more information contact 2018 KCHCS President Pat McBratney at (913) 596-4853; or KHA liason Cindy Samuelson or MHA liason Dave Dillon at (573) 893-3700.
We hope you will join us for a great KCHCS meeting on Aug. 8. We are excited to have Dr. Sinclair from the University of Kansas Health System join us.
Health Care Social Media: Opportunities and Pitfalls for Organizations and ProfessionalsSocial media makes a lot of people in health care nervous. Bad reviews, someone tweeting about chest pain instead of calling 911, an employee posting sensitive patient information, the list can go on. But the public expects a social media presence of major organizations, and proper use can be an excellent way to engage with your local community and patient advocates nationwide. In addition to helping an organization, key clinicians may be able to create a niche that can be an important pathway to professional development and leadership opportunities.
