Trustee Resources
Health care is the most complex, demanding, fast-paced and rapidly changing industry in America. We commend hospital trustees for their dedication to Kansas hospitals and the health care of Kansans.

A committee of Kansas hospital trustees suggested the Kansas Hospital Association create online resources targeted specifically for Kansas hospital trustees. We hope these resources are helpful to you in your role as a hospital trustee. If you have topics you want us to cover, don't hesitate to let us know by contacting Cindy Samuelson at csamuelson@kha-net.org.

For the first time in 25 years, the IRS has issued a re-designed annual information return with numerous “new” questions that must be answered by hospitals and other tax-exempt organizations. Form 990 now consists of an 11-page “core form” and 16 related schedules, including Schedule H designed solely for tax-exempt hospitals. The new Form 990 must be completed for the 2008 tax year, although most of the hospital schedule is not required until the 2009 tax year. Legal counsel from the American Hospital Association has developed this document to address key questions that trustees will want to know about the New IRS Form 990.
