Kansas Hospital Association Political Action Committee (KHA-PAC)
State and federal governments pay for well over half of Kansas hospital care and regulate 100 percent of our activities. Those are the main reasons why the work of the Kansas Hospital Association and its political action committee, KHA-PAC, is so important.
The goals and objectives of KHA-PAC are fairly simple. We raise money to help support political candidates who share our belief that state and federal health policy should maximize our ability to improve health care in the communities we serve.
Political advocacy has never been as important as it is today. State and federal budgets are being stretched to the breaking point, and as usual, health care is in the crosshairs to help offset these problems. On the State front, the recent Supreme Court ruling mandating millions of additional dollars be directed to schools will ultimately have far reaching effects on all state-funded services. And on the Federal front, the war on terrorism, home land security and the ever increasing aging of Americans are consuming tax dollars at an alarming and uncontrollable rate.
Elected individuals making decisions who have a passion and understanding for the unique role hospitals play in ensuring the quality of life in their communities are critical when budget decisions are debated in Washington and at the Statehouse.
