KDHE Letter Regarding WIC

Because of the federal government shutdown, Kansas WIC is temporarily pausing shipments of formula for WIC clients to pick up at their local WIC clinic. Formulas normally accessible through an authorized WIC vendor, available on store shelves or ordered through a pharmacy are still accessible.

As the federal shutdown continues, CMS revised and released QSO-26-01-ALL REVISED to notify of further reductions in survey activity by state survey and accredited agencies. At this time, only complaint and facility-reported incidents alleging harm or credible allegations of immediate jeopardy will be surveyed.

Notice of Recalled Fire Sprinkler Heads

The Office of the State Fire Marshal has issued a notice about recalled fire sprinkler heads that malfunctioned at a Massachusetts assisted and independent-living facility. The faulty sprinklers failed to operate during a fire, causing 10 deaths and 30 injuries.
