(Sept. 11, 2020) – The Rural Health Education and Services office with the University of Kansas Medical Center is accepting entries for the 15th Annual Rural Kansas Photo Contest until Oct. 19. The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers who live or work in Kansas age 18+. This year there are two healthcare categories that we encourage healthcare facilities in Kansas to participate.
- Healthcare Heroes: Focus on a healthcare hero in your community. Grab your camera and shoot a portrait or casual shot and provide a few sentences on why this healthcare hero has earned his/her cape (individuals or group of any healthcare provider or first responder).
- Healthcare Facilities: Showcase your photography skills by turning the spotlight on your community's healthcare facility.
- Additional contest categories include Hometown Kansas, Wildlife & Critters, and Kansas in Black and White.
These photos are used in marketing materials to help promote Kansas as a great place for future healthcare professionals to live, work and play. Prizes are awarded for first and second place in each category and a grand prize winner will receive $100 and their photo will be featured on a magazine cover. In-person and online voting will take place on National Rural Health Day (Nov. 19). If your healthcare organization would like to include information about the contest in an employee newsletter, contact Jenifer Yuza to obtain a coordinating photo for your article.
Contest details, including a form to sign-up to vote online, can be found on the Rural Health Education and Services website at www.ruralhealth.kumc.edu. For more information, contact Jenifer Yuza, marketing and resource manager, Rural Health Education and Services at (316) 293-2649.
