President's Perspective – KHA Convention and Trade Show – Registration Now Open

2021 Convention Logo (July 30, 2021) – The KHA Annual Convention and Trade Show will be Sept. 9-10 at the Hyatt Regency Wichita/Century II Convention Center in Wichita. The KHA team has been busy in their meeting preparation and has been keeping a watchful eye on the latest COVID-19 developments. While our intent is to host covention in person, we already have made preparations for atendees to participate virtually. Our priority is the safety and well-being of the KHA membership and staff. Toward that end, KHA will be following all local, state and federal COVID-19 requirements including guidance from the CDC. Additional details about protocols we will be asking all attendees to follow will be provided, as we get closer.

Online registration and registration materials are now available for download on the convention page of the KHA website and will be mailed in early August. We encourage individuals to register early, as we will be limiting attendance to certain events to accommodate for appropriate spacing. We are exploring options to provide additional areas at convention to watch a live stream of the general sessions, if additional spacing becomes necessary. Overflow rooms for some of the ticketed events may not be possible, so we encourage early registration.

For those members not interested in traveling to Wichita, we will be providing a virtual option to live stream our general sessions. To provide our members additional flexibility, we have worked with the Hyatt Regency Wichita to extend the date that you may cancel your hotel reservation without penalty to Aug. 20.

Despite the current hurdles, we have put together a convention that provides attendees with excellent education and a number of networking opportunities with your peers. The KHA Convention will kick off again with the KHA-PAC advocacy breakfast. KHA-PAC contributors will have the opportunity to hear from Amy Walter, Where to Turn When the Political Climate Heats Up.

Our keynote speaker will be Jenn Lim who will share the power that happiness plays in an organization's culture. Nicholas Webb will impart his insights on how to lead your organization in a time of disruption and unprecedented change.

We will round the day out Thursday with Natalie Stavas, M.D., who will discuss her personal experience of being a participant and responder to the Boston Marathon bombing. On Friday, Steve Cadigan will share the future of work and how to create a new more engaging and more satisfying model for both employers and employees. To wrap it all up, David Glickman will remind us all about the power of a little laughter.

This is just a preview of all that our convention has to offer. More information on speakers and activities is online at: https://www.kha-net.org/EducationConventionTS/Convention/.

As mentioned, our priority is your safety and well-being. We request your patience and support as we try to "Come Together" for the upcoming KHA Convention and Trade Show. Our team will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone updated. If for any reason, you have questions or needs, please don't hesitate to contact me or any of our other KHA team members. We look forward to connecting with you in September.
