Kansas Newborn Screening Program Launches First Annual Facility Recognition Awards
mom baby (Sept. 25, 2020) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment Newborn Screening Program launched the first annual newborn screening recognition awards. The Kansas Hospital Association was pleased to partner with KDHE and the Kansas Midwives Alliance to recognize facilities and midwives for their dedication to higher newborn screening standards in 2019. Top recognitions went to Kearny County Hospital, Lakin, and Newton Medical Center, Newton, who were awarded recognition as the "All Around Best of the Best." Ten additional facilities earned a "Best of the Best" designation for either point-of-care screenings (hearing and critical congenital heart defects) or metabolic and genetic screenings. Thank you to our members for your hard work and dedication to newborn screening. CONGRATULATIONS to the 2019 honorees!
