Federal Focus (July 10, 2020) – CMS Releases CY 2021 ESRD PPS Proposed Payment and Policy Updates
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released payment and policy updates for the calendar year 2021 End Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System. The CY 2021 base rate is proposed to increase from $239.33 to $255.59. The proposal also includes updates to the wage index, new Office of Management and Budget delineations, low-volume eligibility, and updates to the outlier policy. Comments must be submitted no later than Friday, Sept. 4.

CMS Announces IQR and Promoting Interoperability Program Education Session
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a webinar for eligible hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and eligible clinicians and professionals performing electronic clinical quality measure reporting for the following CMS programs.

  • Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program
  • Medicare and Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Programs
  • Quality Payment Program: The Merit-based Incentive Payment System
  • Advanced Alternative Payment Models
  • APM: Comprehensive Primary Care Plus

CMS Releases IPFQR Manual Version 6.0
The Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program Specifications Manual Version 6.0 is now available on the Quality Reporting Center. The new version is effective Jan. 1, 2021, and applies to all data to be reported to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in calendar year 2022.
