Special Session Likely on Nov. 22
(Nov. 12, 2021) – This week, the legislature reached two-thirds of both the House and Senate members that signed the petition to call for a special legislative session. The petition signatures were delivered to Governor Laura Kelly's office by Senate President Ty Masterson (R-Andover) this morning. The governor can call the special session, or the legislature can assemble on their own. This is the first time a special session has been called by petition in Kansas history. The date that has been announced is Nov. 22. While, the committee is likely to take up vaccine mandate legislation, there are no limits to the possibility of other topics being dealt with.
