Senate Sends Health Bill Back to Conference
Advocacy Day  newsletter (April 28, 2022) – Yesterday, the Senate debated the conference committee report on House Bill 2540 the report includes changes in schedules I, II, IV and V of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, amending the definition of controlled substances in the Kansas criminal code, excluding certain drug products from the definition of marijuana and excluding fentanyl testing strips from the definition of drug paraphernalia. Senator Molly Baumgardner (R-Louisburg) made a motion to send the bill back to conference over concerns related to excluding fentanyl testing strips from the definition of drug paraphernalia. The motion passed on a vote of 24-11. The legislation will now go back to conference for further discussion.
