Senate Sees Vaccination Limitation Amendment
Vaccination (April 8, 2021) – Yesterday, the Kansas Senate discussed several bills on General Orders. Among those was House Bill 2224. The legislation expands the definition of "infectious disease" in certain statutes related to crimes in which bodily fluids may have been transmitted from one person to another. Senator Mark Steffen (R-Hutchinson) brought forth an amendment similar to the contents of the original Senate Bill 212. The addition to the bill limits the ability of the secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to add to the vaccination schedule for children attending schools or daycares. The amendment failed on a vote of 17-18.
