Food Sales Tax Reduction Bill Passes Legislature
ProviderTax (April 29, 2022) – After discussion throughout the session, the food sales tax reduction proposal passed that was contained in House Bill 2106. The bill reduces food sales tax from 6.5 percent to 4 percent on Jan. 1, 2023. Then further reduces the rate over the next two years until it reaches 0 percent. The legislation passed the House 114-3 and the Senate 39-0. The legislation now goes to Governor Laura Kelly, who indicated she will sign the bill into law.
