Immediately upon receiving the Hospital Engagement Network 2.0 award in late September, the team at the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative
began coordinating logistics for conducting a site visit with the hospital management team at every participating hospital. This was a monumental task, as Kansas, with 106 participating hospitals, is second only to California in the number of hospitals participating in our HEN. All Kansas hospital site visits were completed between late October and early January. These were not simply "meet and greet" visits--they lasted from two to four hours.
At each site visit, KHC staff provided an overview of the HEN 2.0, its goals, and explored ways to connect support and resources with hospital needs and priorities. They also met with hospital management teams, shared HEN data reports and discussed action plans and strategies for success in the second round of the HEN. KHC used the site visits as an opportunity to distribute “Agent of Change” wristbands. Wearing the wristband is a visual reminder to staff and patients that we are vigilant in seeking improved safety in Kansas. More than 7,500 wristbands were distributed to Kansas hospital personnel.
