In 2012, there were 4,999 community hospitals in the nation.

The number of outpatient visits showed minimal change. The nation’s community hospitals reported an average of 2150

outpatient visits per 1,000 population, little change from 2011. Kansas ranked 31st in the nation, with 2,527

outpatient visits per 1,000 population. Inpatient admissions for hospitals remained relatively consistent from 2011 to 2012.

Kansas ranked 20th in the nation, with 103 admissions per 1,000 population.
