A 71-year-old woman from northeast Kansas* has died from infection with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announced today. This death brings the total number of confirmed deaths from the pandemic strain statewide to 29.

January 10-16 is National Influenza Vaccination Week, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is encouraging seniors to get vaccinated against H1N1.
