Encouraging Excellence and Innovation is the focus of the Kansas Hospital Education and Research Foundation's annual Health Care Scholarship. In this competitive scholarship, the Foundation assists deserving individuals interested in improving their abilities to provide quality care in Kansas. Any individual who is currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited Kansas school for health care is invited to apply. Preference will be given to current hospital employees, particularly those working in a hospital that is licensed for 25 or fewer acute beds. The application submission deadline is March 31, 2016.

KHERF Receiving Health Care Scholarship Applications
Apply today for a health care scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year. Over 20 scholarships are available, and students are encouraged to apply in the following categories:
Nursing: undergraduate students in nursing (KHERF)
Graduate: graduate level students in any health care discipline (KHERF)
Future Faculty: students pursuing education necessary to become health care faculty (KHERF)
Health Care: undergraduate students in non-nursing health care fields (KHERF)
Health Care Administration: students in health care administration (KAHCE)
Human Resources: students in hospital human resource-related fields (KHHRA)
Health IT: student in a technical health IT-related field (KSHIMSS)

Scholarship Program Partners
The Kansas Association of Health Care Executives provides scholarships to individuals seeking a degree in health care administration.
To support those working in human resources, the Kansas Hospital Human Resources' Association provides scholarships to be given to individuals wanting to work in HR in a hospital setting.
The Kansas Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society provides a scholarship to an individual seeking a degree or certification in a technical Health IT-related field.
In the 14th Annual Health Care Scholarship Program, KHERF partnered with the KHHRA, KAHCE, and the KHIMSS to provide 32 scholarships totaling $24,000. Thirty-four honorable mention awardees also were named to serve as alternates.
KHERF received 178 applications from 161 individuals in 2015. Each application was considered by KHERF's Scholarship Review Committee according to established criterion. This year's scholarships were awarded in the following categories:

- Technical Health IT
- Health Care Human Resources
- Graduate Health Care
- Undergraduate Nursing
- Undergraduate Other Health Care
